it's the big differences

i've been in louisiana three days now. it still doesn't feel like i live here. i think because i'm so used to just coming to visit. the fact that i'm not going "home" in a couple of days just refuses to sink in.

when i moved from california to boston, although it was a huge change, it was the little differences that really got to me. the butter is a different shape. the same mayonnaise has a different name. carriages are called carriages instead of carts.

here it's the big differences. the food. they have pepper jelly! and it's delicious. the quiet. driving on roads with no one else on them. going to popeyes at 7pm and having no one ahead of us. i don't remember the last time i went to grab food in boston and didn't have to wait. does that even happen? and all the names i can't pronounce. i dare you to try to say natchitoches. and everything moves much slower. i think that will be the hardest adjustment for me to make of all. i'll keep you posted.

  1. I'll try to pronounce natchitoches if you try здравствуйте! Sounds like you have some adjusting but I'm sure you'll love it. Can't wait to come visit. (you're already doing better at the blog thing then me...i never started one!)

  3. Your blog has a great title. I mean, really great title. Did you come up with it yourself or did a friend help you decide on that really great title?
